Usually this type of data disaster doesn't make the news... The Chemung County Clerk's Office is recovering from a freak computer crash in which 1,200 documents from a five-week period were lost, mostly land records. "It was a catastrophe and a disaster," a county clerk, said. "It's the flukiest thing. Our vendor can't explain why that happened." There were no hard copies.
